Wildrun Wildlife Management is a very small wildlife control business operating in Tompkins and Tioga County. We also help citizens with feral cat issues, as a public service, and find ourselves with tamed kittens and cats that need loving homes. We've been rescuing ferals since 1988.
- We adopt to indoor homes only, except for the rare cat that insists on indoor/outdoor access.
- If the cat does not work for you, he or she must be returned to Wildrun. Ownership may not be transferred to another owner or shelter without checking with us first.
- As a business, Wildrun cannot charge a fee for adoptions. However, we feel adopters should make a commitment for their new pet. Therefore we ask that you leave a personal check for a $50 donation made out to the non-profit local animal welfare organization of your choice. The check will for forwarded in your name by Wildrun. Some local groups include:
- All pets currently in your household must be spayed or neutered.
- All of our cats, and may of our kittens, are spayed or neutered. You agree to provide all future veterinary care, including rabies vaccinations required by law, and spay/neuter if you choose an unneutered kitten. Cats can live up to 25 years! Think before you adopt.
- Either the cat or a littermate has tested negative for feline leukemia. Some cats and kittens are also tested for FIV, but not all.
- To adopt a cat, send us an email and a little information about what you are looking for. We'll send directions and make an appointment for you to come and visit on a weekday evening or anytime over the weekend. Please do not come by unannounced. Chances are good we'll be out chasing cats!
- Cats may be reclaimed for the following reasons:
- Failure to provide veterinary care or spay/neuter.
- Unauthorized transfer of the ownership of the cat
- Any act of animal cruelty or neglect according to Article 26, Agriculture and Markets, NYS.
- Falsifying information on the adoption agreement
Our cats are very important to us. We want them out of here into homes, but we want them to go to responsible, thoughtful homes. Many of adopters are now close friends, kitten fosterers, or return to socialize our shelter cats. If adoption is not a good option for you right now, consider visiting the cats regularly instead.
